What Is Wine?
Wine is a drink made from fermented grape juice. The process starts by crushing grapes to release their juice, which is then left to ferment as natural or added yeast turns the sugar into alcohol.
Most wines are made from a special type of grape called Vitis vinifera, which is different from the table grapes you find in grocery stores. Vitis vinifera grapes are smaller, have thicker skins, and contain more sugar, which helps create richer flavors and the right amount of alcohol during fermentation. Table grapes, on the other hand, are larger, juicier, and bred for fresh eating rather than winemaking.
There are different types of wine, like red, white, and rosé, depending on the grape variety and how the wine is made. Wine is made by fermenting grape juice, but the way red, white, and rosé wines are made is a little different, mainly because of how the grape skins are used.
